# Personal Deception on Cosmos Video

Personal Deception is a bluffing game where a prompt reveals a personal fact about one player — the "target" — while every other player invents a convincing fake answer. Players then vote for the answer they believe is real. Cosmos Video runs it as a built-in multiplayer game for 4 or more players, and teams use it to connect beyond surface-level small talk and give quieter teammates a chance to share.

The game runs inside a Cosmos Video space with no separate app, download, or license. A host opens a game room, players join with cameras and microphones on, and Cosmos handles prompt selection, anonymous submissions, voting, and points. Because the bluffing dynamic plays out over live video, teammates read expressions in real time — the same social cues that make in-person icebreakers work. It fits fully remote teams, hybrid groups, and cohort kickoffs where people are meeting for the first time.

## How to Play

1. Open a Cosmos Video game room and select Personal Deception.
2. A prompt appears naming one player, for example "Guri's nickname in school was ___."
3. The named player submits the real answer. Everyone else submits a fake answer.
4. Cosmos shuffles all answers and displays them anonymously. Players vote for the one they think is true.
5. Points go to players who guess the real answer and to bluffers whose fakes fooled others.

## Good For

- Team sizes: 4 to 12 players
- Getting new joiners to connect with existing team members
- Bridging sub-groups inside a larger distributed team
- Quarterly team rituals and virtual offsites
- Cohort-based courses where participants are still learning each other's backgrounds

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How many players do you need?

Personal Deception needs a minimum of 4 players because each round requires one real answer and several bluffs. It works best with 5 to 12 players, where there are enough fake answers to make voting interesting but the round still stays short.

### Does it require any preparation?

No. Prompts ship with the game inside Cosmos Video. Players write their real or fake answers in the moment, and the platform handles anonymization, voting, and scoring. Hosts do not need to build question decks or manage a scoreboard.

### Can remote teams play it?

Yes. Personal Deception was built for distributed teams. Playing over live video lets teammates watch the target's face when their real answer appears on screen, and lets bluffers perform their fakes with tone and timing. It works identically for fully remote, hybrid, and co-located teams.

### Is it good for new team members?

Yes — Personal Deception is especially useful for onboarding. It gives new joiners a structured way to share personal details and existing team members a reason to share back, which accelerates trust without the awkwardness of a freeform "tell us about yourself" round.
