# Navy Wars on Cosmos Video

Navy Wars is a simplified Battleship-style strategy game for 2 players. Each player hides 5 ships of different sizes on a grid, then takes turns firing at coordinates to find and sink the opponent's fleet. A hit earns another turn; a miss passes the turn over. Cosmos Video runs Navy Wars as a built-in multiplayer game, and teams use it for team-building because it scales down Battleship's depth into a friendly 1-v-1 that finishes in 5 to 10 minutes.

The game plays inside a Cosmos Video space with no external app or install. A host opens a game room, both players join with cameras and microphones on, and Cosmos Video handles ship placement, turn order, shot validation, and the win condition. Because the match runs over live video, the bluffing, reactions, and "how did you find that one" moments play out in real time. It fits fully remote teams, hybrid groups, and pairings where two teammates want a quick 1-v-1 break together.

## How to Play

1. Open a Cosmos Video game room and select Navy Wars.
2. Place 5 ships of different sizes on your grid. Ships cannot touch — leave at least one space between them.
3. Take turns calling coordinates on your opponent's grid.
4. Hit earns another shot. Miss passes the turn. Cosmos tracks hits, misses, and sunk ships.
5. First player to sink all 5 of the opponent's ships wins.

## Good For

- Team sizes: Exactly 2 players per match (tournaments scale larger)
- Quick 1-v-1 breaks between meetings
- Manager-direct report ritual check-ins with a warm-up
- Onboarding pairings between a new hire and a buddy
- Non-gamer-friendly strategy activity

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How many players do you need?

Navy Wars is a 2-player game, so every match is 1-v-1. Larger groups can run a bracketed tournament using Cosmos Video breakout rooms — 8 players fit into a 3-round single-elimination bracket that completes in about 30 minutes.

### Does it require any preparation?

No. Grid, ship placement, turn order, shot validation, and the win state are all built into Cosmos Video. Open a game room, pick Navy Wars, and both players place their ships — nothing to install and no rulebook to read first.

### Can remote teams play it?

Yes. Navy Wars was built for remote pairs. Each player sees their own grid on their own device, and the shot history syncs live. Video and audio stay on so the back-and-forth feels like the physical board game rather than a silent online match.

### Is it good for non-gamers?

Yes. The rules are deliberately simple: place ships, call coordinates, hit or miss. There are no special abilities or complex mechanics, so a first-time player learns the whole game in the first 2 minutes of their first match.
